If it is mean to the plugins we have now then it clearly is something the server doesn't need. I loved the tree felling you got with a high woodcutting  :-*

The tree felling is so nice lol. There may be a plugin that does that actually

Like this?

Yes lol, is that your code? Does it destroy other log creations that aren't naturally generated trees?

Minor gripe would be I feel like the 2x2 base tree should have the entire base removed, but whatever no biggie.

It has been many years since we dealt with MCMMO, which was an absolute mess of a plugin that didn't play nice with other plugins. Like, it didn't respect worldguard, it did really weird things and cancelled actions by other plugins. It's almost like it was meant to be the ONLY plugin on a server. I recognize the fun things it adds, and I'm perfectly fine with them... it's just a nightmare in many of our memories having to deal with all of the really weird and numerous problems it created.

With that said, if it has been actively and heavily developed for the last several years, then I'm actually not sure what MCMMO is like nowadays. Maybe it's great and compatible with other plugins, I have no idea.

I can get some! What is the best way to get them uploaded into the forums?

I suggest imgur. You can paste the link then use the little image button under the Italics button when writing a post to embed an image.

As for taking the screenshots? I use ShareX because it's fast as hell and uploads to Imgur (or whatever you want) right when you take a screenshot or screen clipping.

hi boi

255
Soooooo, vote or just add it? #Iwantmydrugsback

We can just re-add it, but to be clear it's now Simple Drugs, not DrugMeUp.

We just need a staff member to take some time and do it.

Are there any issues with implementing this plugin?

I don't think so. In fact, because this plugin was never voted out (it fell into disrepair) and is now back and useable as a new plugin called Simple Drugs https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/simple-drugs.9684/ , I don't think this really needs a vote personally.
I'm also down for getting this back.

to clarify on what brutal did, he advertised to a community of a similar type that's now shut down, which imo is fair game.

Fine by me lol

For what it's worth, in the past 7 days, there's been 714 minutes where 10 or more people have been online (7.7% - 1h42m per day avg). If you look at the past 28 days, that gives 2919 minutes (12.1% - 1h14m per day avg) of the time with 10 or more players online.

With regards to the portal-based farms, there's been 3049 minutes (32.9% - 7h16m per day avg) in the past 7 days with 6 or more people online. Similarly for the past 28 days that's 10,119 minutes (42.0% - 5h34m per day avg) with 6 or more.

I have seen tps hit 23, not 30 though
In the past 28 days, TPS has been >= 23 only 2.3% (597 minutes) of the time, and >= 30 for 0.3% (65 minutes) of the time. They're instantaneous TPS values taken one minute apart though, so take it with caution.

Now THIS is a good few statistics, thanks so much luis. Anyone who thinks this ruins their gameplay should consider this.

In case anyone was wondering, there's no rule against advertising on VC if someone posts an IP, just that we'll be quicker to consider it spam if they're being jerks about it. With that said, going to a server only to advertise is rude.

I took it down because I want Octo to stop. I genuinely don't know what was wrong with my calculations. I don't know what people are misconstruing, it's just elementary statistics. If anyone else brings my personal intelligence or relationship into this I'd like to ask you to, with all due respect, get a fucking life for once. Some of you have been so rude and aggressive. I don't even want to be here anymore. I'm sorry everyone. I shouldn't be here and I never should have

You are perfectly free to post calculations and ideas and have your own opinions. You do deserve to be here, you can and should still play here, and you are more than welcome here. Please don't get downtrodden by disagreeing, and perhaps aggressive disagreeing, replies to your posts. Regardless of those replies, you are 100% welcome to keep playing and posting your ideas. You won't ever be silenced.

Good Morning everyone!

I would like to take a moment to remind everyone this is a restriction, not a ban. You still get to use your farms if this is passed, it is only closing farm use when the server is at higher capacity, which is where we see the most lag visually. I know this is a touchy subject but this rule is not to ruin anyone's gameplay. It is an attempt to help players in times we see the most lag.
well, it's already ruined my gameplay, which is why I'm not playing as of right now.

How can something that isn't even in effect ruin your game play? This makes no sense.

And even if it does come into effect, you can still do your thing if under 10 ppl are on. And it's only until the next update.

...

Luis's test is not a live under-load VC test, so can't be used as a control, but it is an interesting reference evidence. It needs to be considered against anecdotal evidence on the live server in my opinion.

This is indeed not the ultimate solution to the problem, which is why it is written to be a temporary measure. If passed, it will serve as a test to see if it does indeed help make a noticeable dent.

I would agree with this if there was any way to actually use live VC as a test, but that would be incredibly difficult. I'll list the problems I see with using the actual server for data collection.

1. Player amounts go up and down, as well as the amount of strain they're putting on the server.
2. If farms are indeed a cause of the lag, then there could be multiple players on with farms or no players on with farms, skewing the data.
3. How would we even compare the two data sets before and after rule? You cant take a random sample and you cant take and average to compare because of the issues above.

I'm definitely not a stats genius so if those can be solved thats good. In addition the problem with relying on anecdotal evidence is exactly that, its anecdotal. I think placebo would be a very big issue if we're relying on player reports. Survey is also the weakest method of data collection, and thats if its formalized, which it hasn't been.

I think it would be fantastic if we could use live VC to collect data if we can find a way to mitigate the above problems.

Well, I mean, what better way to test this temporary restriction than to actually have it in effect on the live server? In this case, anecdote is helpful, but I do indeed understand the placebo problem in this case.

My vote is currently an abstain, but I'm leaning towards a yes because I'd like to see if this does get positive results for players. If it doesn't, it's temporary so whatever.

To someone like Octo saying this ruins his gameplay and he doesn't want to "waste his time building a house" or whatever, this is just weird to me. You do you, but how is sitting at a farm fun? I don't get it. And if your farm is harming others' gameplay, do you respect that? Can you try this temporary rule out without quitting altogether?

Lastly, Golf With Your Friends for hanging out online and chatting and laughing with friends.
I've heard good things about this, but I've seen some say it's quite buggy. Would you recommend it?

It's certainly not buggy at all, let alone quite buggy. Watching people take their shots can be a little out of sync based on what you see vs what they are doing (the game of course accepts their actions as true tho). This could be cleaned up as they patch it. But good game overall, there are no bugs that ruin the experience.

Beat both Ori and the Blind Forest and the new sequel Ori and the Will of the Wisps, beautiful platformers, very fun.

Frostpunk is a very cool and intense game, you always feel the pressure to do something better, I like how dire it is.

I've also been getting back into Apex too, it's really smooth nowadays with a new map, guns, and characters, good stuff.

Also Blackwake the last few nights has been legendary amounts of fun. So. Fun.

Lastly, Golf With Your Friends for hanging out online and chatting and laughing with friends.
We should play together sometime, I have the last three games you mentioned. Blackwake is stupid amounts of fun hahahah.

I'm down

I've been playing Octopath Traveler, Animal Crossing, and Pokemon Dungeon recently, as well as some Smash every now and then. I'm a big Nintendo fan if you can't tell  :D

Somehow I've never heard of Pokemon Dungeon??

Changed the election to end in 3 days instead of 12. If votes are still coming in at a good pace in 4 days, we'll extend it. But it actually seems most people have voted at this point.

Off-Topic Discussion / Nerf Luis?
« on: 25 April 2020, 03:43:16 AM »
It has come to the attention of many players on the server that Luis is getting to be a bit OP. Pinging him to ask him a question or tell him a problem often leads to an impressive level of random yet useful knowledge and he often has solutions to common problems.

Is he too good? His stats are kinda rigged if we're being honest. It might be time to do something about it.

Please vote now on this important matter.

Reports & Grievances / Re: Could I get my village back?

Cyphur, and anyone else, has every right to use this public board for a grievance.

It does not need to be taken personally. It does not need to be taken as an attack.

This board is here to solve problems and it doesn't mean someone was guilty of doing something wrong. Keep a cool head and deal with any post here rationally, and we'll all get thru it.

273
kinda think we should wait but at the same time. a lot of what i've said about this is ignored so i don't care. such a fucking retarded rule anyways.

I can directly quote you to areas where you were not ignored. Your input changed the face of this proposal. To say otherwise is bizarre.

I feel like nobody here bothered to actually read Luis's report, or they did read it and straight up ignored it because they think that they know better. This is a stupid rule, attempts to overregulate and detracts from a minimal staff-regulation experience.

I mean, seriously, this whole proposal is damn insulting when it was found that the fluctuations do not cause any noticeable or significant lag but people decided to ignore his whole investigation. And then there's people cherrypicking what was found. What the fuck? This "bill" is a whole heap of nonsense, it won't fix anything and it seems players are just trying to scapegoat the lag on something I bet not even the proponents understand.

Let me ask you all a very, very fair question. Can any one who is actually for this analyse Luis's write-up and tell me how exactly a ban on farms would help, technically, in absolute terms? I would very much like to see it.

Luis's report is helpful, but you have to consider that:
- It is not a true test of VC under load, (only implementing this rule can do that).
- He found that farms did contribute to TPS fluctuations, though personally disagreed with a rule at the time of writing. He also posited that the TPS fluctuations are likely less than what people tend to assume.

I'm sorry you feel ignored, when I was lagging so bad I couldn't move when this whole debate started I also felt very ignored when trying to find the issue with people. I understand you aren't feeling lag but unfortunately not all of us players have that luxury and if this "retarded rule" helps us a little bit I don't understand why we don't want to sacrifice a little to help the players overall. The rule is if 10 players get on you have to cease use of a farm, and even in our up rate these past few weeks it isn't always 10, usually 7-9 people.

Overall I think the rule is a great compromise, if we want to wait for after CM vote that is fine, but I don't see any reason we have to wait unless someone has a valid reason for waiting.

This is a decent reply, nicely done. I wonder if this rule passes, if you'll notice an improvement.

You all sound so whiny when the rest of the player base clearly experiences this lag when farms are in use. Luis' investigation shows proof that it causes much more fluctuation for 1.14 at these farms, which is what induces the rubber banding that a majority of the community's complaints.

In my opinion, the regulations are very light as I would have liked to see the number of required players to regulate farms drop down lower to around 5. This is an extremely fair compromise and it only lasts till 1.16 AND punishment is very light on offenders. No farms are getting seized or broken the community is just asking these players using these large farms to think about them and quit being so self interested while we try to figure out ways to cut down lag for the time being.

The amount of crying or incessant whining over fucking minecraft farms couldn't be anymore pathetic. I get it, the mind blowing feeling of standing there AFK while you ruin everyone else's experience is just too good to pass up. But please, quit being so selfish and listen to other people's complaints about not being able to play. It's absurd that these AFK players, represented by mostly staff, have gone this long with clear favor while the other players have gotten screwed until someone decided to speak up.

Farms can still be used according to these regulations, it's just asking that large farm users do this at a time where it won't affect every other player. So please, stop whining about it ruining your player experience. We don't care, just as you are constantly ignoring the concerns about our experience being riddled with constant lag, we don't care how much it ruins your fun -- you have already lost that respect.

Not gonna lie, I had a laugh at this rant

274
Fair, let's do it!

275
shall we put it to a vote then?

The only thing I was wondering is if we should wait for the CM election to end or not?

276
One part of the text has been cleaned up, which is that "this rule expires 15 days after VC updates to 1.16" has been changed to "this rule expires 15 days after VC updates to the next major Minecraft version". This change has been made because it was assumed our next major version would be 1.16, so the rule was written like that, but now it's unclear whether it will actually be 1.15 due to a delay in 1.16.

Thus, the final draft of the bill is as follows, and has gained Consent of the Staff to go to an official Parliament Vote.

1) Automatic or Industrialized Farms are not allowed to be used when 10 or more people are online (6 or more for farms involving nether portals).
     (a) Farms have 5 minutes to comply once 10 or more players are online.
     (b) Farms that involve nether portals have 5 minutes to comply once 6 or more players are online.
     (c) Staff may take the following actions:
          - Immediately: a notice to disable,
          - After 5 minutes: a warning and kick if AFK,
          - After 10 minutes: a second warning and a kick.
          - After 15 minutes: a final warning and a kick.
          - After 30 minutes: proceed to regular punishments, and stop the farm if necessary (such as toggling an on-off lever) without physical edits.
     (d) Staff may not take the following action:
          - Physically edit the farm without consent of the owner.

2) Automatic or Industrialized Farms are defined as follows:
     (a) Volume > 4096 (16^3) for a random tick-based farm.
     (b) Entity Count > 256 for a spawner-based farm.
     (c) Volume > 32768 (32^3) for mob spawning-based farm.
     (d) Any Farm that involves sending entities (items or mobs) through nether portals.
          - This class of farm must cease once 6 or more people are online.

3) Exemptions to rules 1 and 2:
     (a) Any farm may be considered exempt of these rules if:
          - A Staff Vote decides unanimously in favour of exemption, or;
          - A simple vote of MPs on the Parliament Board has a majority decide in favour of exemption (official Parliament vote not needed),
          and;
     (b) The farm is ostensibly for the public benefit and is freely available for use by the public.

4) This rule expires fifteen days after VillageCraft updates to the next major Minecraft version.

Parliament | Suggestions / Re: NOMINATE 6th COMMUNITY MINISTER HERE!
« on: 21 April 2020, 06:39:43 PM »
Parl vote 20 was passed, new CM Guidelines have been adopted. In my opinion this election can occur at any time if nominations have stopped rolling in.

Also, in the past, nominations sometimes still come in during voting, which is fine, they're just at a bit of a disadvantage.

278
I propose one more edit to clean things up with new ideas incorporated:

1) Automatic or Industrialized Farms are not allowed to be used when 10 or more people are online (6 or more for farms involving nether portals).
     (a) Farms have 5 minutes to comply once 10 or more players are online.
