Our host notified us of this, it seems to have stemmed from some outdated Wordpress files, but if there was something more malicious, we aren't sure yet.

Either way, we deleted all the offending files and there is no longer anything that we know of to trigger that kind of warning.

It's the kind of update we should have gotten all along, actually fleshing out the world, adding to it. Animals, plants, life. Depth, immersion.

Why is this kind of thing coming sooooo late in the game? It's great, but holy shit imagine if all the updates were like this all these years? Why did it take so damn long?

If underwater is getting this treatment, the land certainly needs it.

The no-kill request and then "ok then" was so obviously taken as an agreement by the player before they teleported. That's why they indeed teleported. Wesos knows this. Anyone knows this. It's clear. Enough of this bullshit.

"Few" is supposed to intentionally get the point across that it's not too too many. "A couple" is for the lowest of amounts above 1, such as the 2 to 4ish range, and "a few" is for the lowish amounts just above that, but is at least 3. Can 7,000 be a few thousand? Sure. Can 100,000? Not even remotely close. No. By that point you've certainly gone past "several" and are either in the realm of or have even passed "many".

My vague colloquial scale:
One: 1
A couple: 2-4ish (stringent on verbiage? it means 2.)
A few: 3-12ish
Several: 7ish+
Many: bigger numbers, perhaps like 100,000 would be "many thousands".

The word "few" means "not a lot", so it aint 100.

Cleary a violation of our rules, and I know hes been warned in the past for breaking these rules. I would suggest a tempban but ill let someone else decide.

wesos19 has been banned for 1 day for breaking a no kill agreement

(we can still look for evidence on whether or not he killed the new player and how he did it tho)

Its nice knowing he got punished over that, but tbh I don't care too much about the punishment. What I care about is the sword, Shovel, Axe, bow, and Pick of mine that he ended up with. I managed to nab my armour and elytra before he could pick it up, but the tools were taken.

Those must be returned to you.

About 2 days ago around the time I wrote my report, he killed CMTGIRL she joined like 15 mins before or something like that. I remember seeing in the chat “CMTGIRL was killed by wesos19’s [whatever his bow or sword is called]” something along those lines, but he did kill her. Her name is CMTGIRL

Hi Wabanog. So long as people donate and fund the server, the server persists. Donations keep coming in, so here we are. So yes, go ahead and start that project.

As for the long term? Minecraft's player count is in decline but it's still a pretty strong game. The game's peak player count is past, but I can see Minecraft going on for an almost undeserved long span of years. I don't have the heart to close the server so long as it is funded, so it remains open as long as all you kind people want it to, years if you like.

so he can't appeal ever again? even if we don't agree with what he's done I don't think we should straight up deny a player the right to appeal even if they are creepy. we've let danchess appeal like 9 times and he's way sketchier I think.

VillageCraft, taking the basic tenets of a fair legal system, has basic rights for anyone who has been banned and allows them the right to appeal, no matter their charges. The rules are listed here:

Basic rights of the person appealing:
1. You have the right to appeal a punishment levied against you, so long as you respect re-appeal limits.
2. You have the right to request information on your punishment, such as the staff's "Punishment Registry" entries relating to you, or any other basic information that allows you to understand your situation properly to write your appeal.
3. If you appeal in a reasonable time after your punishment, you have the right to demand evidence pertaining to your case.

Limits on re-appealing:
If your appeal is denied, staff may put a limit of up to 3 months before you can appeal again. If staff do not set a limit, you may appeal again after 2 weeks have passed. You can appeal sooner, and ignore the limit, if a staff member says it is okay to do so in your specific case. If you have never appealed, there is no limit on when you may make your first appeal.

As such, the offending player, ClenBo (username "_Call_Me_Master_") may not appeal for the maximum 3 months (up from 2) from the day the verdict was delivered.

I'll be honest, I think it's arguable if you broke any server rules, but I DO think you did because you were being malicious and not just humorous, so I fully stand by Luis's decision. And honestly I would have considered defending you to some extent and granting your appeal... but you were acting like such a little piece of shit ingame, on discord, and in your appeal, that I actually had to upgrade your ban to permanent to wake you up. Like god damn could you be any more of a nuisance?

For the record: I don't care about sharing porn, I don't really care for anyone's personal threshold for what they consider obscene, and I don't even really care all that much about the idea that someone needs to be a certain age to view something (maturity is what is important). However it seems to me you were clearly going out of your way to harass someone, to an unusually dedicated degree, against their consent. Like fuck off, do something better with your time. Your first appeal and behavior on the forums, editing your signature, profile, your pm to me, it was all was atrocious. Not to mention your behavior towards Mali in the first place. God damn.

I'll talk to Luis, Livid, and the other Staff and we'll come up with a verdict on this appeal in the next day or so.

My town is sandwitched between 2 big cities, and the whole town has like 3 cell towers in the whole town, which is about 14 miles in circumference. If you go a half mile north, they get good internet. But on my block, you either get horrible, slow, expensive Xfinity WiFi. It's bullshit.

Half a mile, 800m. I see that as small enough of a distance to run a *really* long cable down the road from a switch box somewhere into your home and use the city's internet

Crossing several property lines, it's probably more feasible to petition the town to expand access. Or if we're talking bout 'merica, petition your ass because corporations run the show, and they aint give no shits.

(Secret solution #2: push for your town to form a public internet utility where everyone can get cheap highspeed coverage)

Yeah, there's some DNS issue there, meaning you're trying to connect to a different IP than what the domain is actually pointing at.

You can change your DNS settings to 8.8.8.8, and that should fix it. I also made a guide to that here.

Also @Akomine, that's both Virgin Media and BT that's applied some sort of DNS block on our domain. I don't know what it is, but we should look into this. If 2 major UK ISPs are rerouting the mc.vill... subdomain then something's up

This is so weird, I'm not exactly sure how to look into this. How are Virgin and BT generally considered in terms of customer service or lack thereof?

Make sure you are using Minecraft 1.12.1
Make sure the IP you are connecting to is mc.villagecraft-server.com
Refresh the server browser 2 or 3 times is sometimes needed, and try to connect 2 or 3 times (minecraft is a lil glitchypoo)

I'm extremely against this idea. I've always loved the fact that we've never reset the world. Like 99% of servers this old have reset their world mutliple times, we haven't. We won't reset the world for some dumb new biome and we also won't make it a secondary world. Come on.

Want a new map? Then make that new map an alt world, but not the main VC map.

VC prides itself on history, especially when it's been around since 2011. As Air said, many other servers reset, and it's always hard to recover from.

I vote yes, you guys are too attached to the monuments of the past. It is time to forge a new era and leave the old behind. You guys are shunning the prospect of a new canvas because you spent time on an older painting that is finished now. Think of it like a renaissance for the server a time for new ideas and creations, let us not stagnate but make a new world together as we did the old one.

The Minecraft world extends to +/-30,000,000. Even if we were to assume everywhere +/-1,000,000 of spawn has been explored (which is FAR from the truth), that's still only 0.11% of the whole world. We don't need a reset. The whole idea behind the game is it's meant to be infinite, even if you've built on it for 7 years. People generally explore in lines, going out in one direction until they find something they like. Yes, people may have builds near 1,000,000 blocks out, but there's so much empty space between that and spawn that hasn't been generated yet, waiting for the new terrain in the new update.

If you want a canvas metaphor, it's the equivalent of buying a square 1m canvas, and wanting a new one after you've covered less than a cm of it. If that's hard to visualise, picture this. If the whole minecraft world were your skin, we've used around about 4cm squared of your total body area AT MOST. For those who find 4cm confusing, it's about this much space on my hand.

Plus, 1.7 was "the update that changed the world" and added a whole bunch of new biomes, yet we managed to cope well with that change. In fact, 1.7 added 32 new biomes, whereas 1.13 adds only 7 (in the overworld), all of which are ocean biomes.

We could just make a warp like 5mill blocks out and let people explore, this might lag the server but idk.

In terms of lag, you load approx 7x7 chunks around you wherever you are. The server doesn't care if that's at 0,0 or at 10mil,10mil. Going far out has no effect. In fact, making a new world would actually be laggier. In my opinion, if people are really bothered about running out of space, then I'd be all up for teleporting them far out and setting up a warp. Heck, I'd even let them pick the biome if it were up to me, it's not a problem. Or (provided the actual world gen algorithm doesn't change much), I could regenerate an ocean near you if you wanted. I'd have to look into it, but that should be possible.


TL;DR: I'm very against a world reset. There's far too much unexplored space to justify a reset, and we have too much history to do it. If you want new terrain, I'll happily set up a warp somewhere new with a biome you want.

The world is absolutely massive, nearly infinite, and there is so much unexplored land that there will be nearly infinite new biomes to explore. We absolutely don't need a reset. Plenty of people have given excellent reasons why, so I won't add any more.

Making an alt world with the new terrain generation seed is an option, but instead:
Let's have a competition for who can find the new biomes first. First person to find a new biome gets 5 million VC dollars and an enchanted weapon or armour of their choice. We can do this for each of the 7 new biomes. Each person can claim the prize once.

Sound cool?
