Recently, I expressed concerns with octogamer in villagecraft chat regarding a friend who had been perma banned for calling him gay 5 seperate days in the past YEAR. I said to him, I am just expressing concerns and you guys can feel free to ./ignore me. He then threatened to mute me to which I replied with "you can't, its a free speech server and I'm not harassing anybody" but here we are, muted in chat for what? I really feel like this is an abuse of power on octos part, and I would like to see myself unmuted because I truly believe I did very little wrong. You can check discord logs and see that I am literally not lying whatsoever. Don't advertise free speech if thats not what you guys are about.

I find it hard to believe you got muted for nothing so we'll wait for octo to reply but if infact you didn't do anything we will have your mute removed from your record.

Look at the logs bro, like I said in the original appeal, this happened today so its not hard at all. All I did was express my disagreement with my friend being banned. And as I said in my previous post, this seems like an abuse of power. Please change your "free speech" status if this stuff is not allowed because at that point you guys are false advertising the ideals of the server.

This conversation was complex, convoluted- and too long to reasonably post on here. If anyone wishes to view the conversation it starts in earnest around 9:55 pm EST 1/27/2021. I'd like to preface by saying that I dont hold anything personally against Octo or against Albenji; however for rules to be rules, they must be enforced.

Staff are supposed to support the basic ideals and the rules of the server. One of the most basic and engrained principles on this server is freedom of speech; as long as it doesn't constitute harassment or bullying. It is a basic expectation that staff members follow these rules and values. OctoGamer did not follow the rules, nor did he support the basic ideas of the server in this action. Albenji did not do anything near what would reasonably considered mutable. OctoGamer muted him without just cause, or any approval from other staff members.

It is understandable to some degree, Albenji was being distinctly annoying, but, as a staff member Octo should not have reacted in the way that he did. Muting people without just cause as defined in the rules is completely unacceptable, especially if you hold a personal grudge against the person being punished. If Octo cannot distinguish between, and separate his personal emotions and his professional actions, then maybe he should not hold a staff position. I do not think that it brings anyone any pleasure to make that statement, but when a staff member clearly oversteps, and refuses to concede even the slightest bit of wrongdoing, it may be time to consider a re-adjustment.

Some things I think are also worth mentioning;

Dallas had asked me politely to stop arguing with Octo so she could help someone with an issue they were having, and I literally replied with "yes" (and I legitimately planned to stop, because it was a respectable request). Octo then continues the argument by saying "don't worry I'm going to mute him all together" after all I had done was express my frustration with him banning JoelEmbiid. Obviously, I am going to defend myself from there as I don't want to get muted.

Later, after a little more back and forth, I then asked why I was getting muted, to which Octo replied:
"for not shutting up about shaz getting banned"

This hardly seems like a viable reason to ban someone, as once again it is supposed to be a FREE SPEECH server. You can check the logs, the funny thing is I'm telling the complete truth. It's a complete abuse of power, so since he told me "to go ahead and cry abuse of power" I most definitely will! How did you guys deal with corrupt staff abusing their powers going as far back as CJ and as recently as Livid? You revoked their privileges, and compensate those who were affected. I think Gerrit said it best in his reply, Octo may not be ready or mature enough to have staff. There was hardly anything in that back and fourth that would constitute a mute if the server is truly free speech. And there should be no question whatsoever if this should be wiped from my record.
