It's hard to pick one. Typically I'd say The Martian as a general movie, although I always enjoy watching Snowden so that'd be high up on the list too. Recently though The Way He Looks made me cry a bit, so that might have to be one of my favourite emotional movies.

What's one city outside of their own country the next poster would love to visit?

I recently found out that I have some family that lives in Saariselkä, Lapland (northern Finland). It'd be really cool to go up there in the winter to cross country ski, or see the northern lights. I've always been a sucker for northern towns : P

What's the next poster's favourite hobby / pastime?

One could say I'm a gluten for monotony because I love doing crafts in my freetime, especially those seen as monotonous. Paint with diamonds is a newfound favorite (look it up, it's actually really beautiful). I also am obsessed with yoga, though I don't do it enough

The Build Comp is going great! I am loving all the creative villages! Because the plots are so large and people are ensuring their terraforming looks incredible before they build the village itself The CM Team and I have decided to extend the build comp until Thursday @ 12 am EST

So Theo put together a lovely post at the beginning of Quarantine calling for another round of UHC

 A lot of players think a great way to honor his memory is having a UHC Event. With the great help of Hobbes we are getting everything gathered to host UHC on November 7th 2020 @ 6pm EST.

Here is a great description of UHC in his own words,
UHC stands for Ultra Hardcore, meaning a game mode where YOU DO NOT REGENERATE HEALTH unless you use potions/golden apples. It will be a PVP DEATHMATCH with either individuals or teams pitted against each other in an arena. The Victor takes home the coveted UHC Tag

General Discussion / Next Event! Create A Village Build Comp!

It's been a few months since we've had a build comp and Ako pitched this fantastic idea to me the other day. Our normal Build comp format and the theme is Build a protectable village!

This event will start on October 4th @ 12am EST and last for 1 week, ending on October 11 @ 12 am EST
You will have your own plot to create whatever kind of village you prefer!
Judging will begin October 11 and both judged vote and Popular Vote will end October 14

The Winner of the Popular Vote will win $100K and the Winner of the Judged vote will win $200K and a special Tag!

Please Reply to this thread, PM me, or tell me when you see me on the server if you are interested in participating in the Build Comp!

I'm having an ongoing debate on what age you reach middle age.

I personally think 40.
Middle Aged is a demographic age that people reach at 40
The average lifespan in the US is 80 so half of that is 40.

Someone keeps arguing with me that middle-aged is 35

interesting indeed the article I was reading could have been old as well but U hadn't heard about the restaurant thing either. It's fascinating what a small worldview the US has.

I also haven't heard anything about Canada despite being so close. Here in the US it is also supposed to be increased sanitation but who knows how many places are following that. Where I live the conservative health officials don't check businesses which can be stressful as a customer when you see them ignore the guidelines.

Hello fellow internet dwellers! I was doing a school project earlier outlining how other countries are responding to the Coronavirus and found out that hotels are closed for commercial use in the UK? So I an intrigued to here from some of the players that live in other countries what they know about closures in hospitality.

For example in the US it is state based, but in Virginia hotels have been open the whole time they have just seen very low numbers until a recent rise, (Still not to 50% capacity I believe)

Have hotels been closed in your country this whole time? or and I just misreading the information I'm finding on the internet?

So this plugin has been brought up a few times and since there was a bit of informal discussion in discord I thought I would post it here.

Introducing SimpleCrops! Basically this plugin creates custom plants and drops for our farming folks. I for one love making hand farms so I know I would love some more plants but I want to hear what everyone else thinks.

Some things to consider
This is 1.15 atm but in reading the comments it seems the creator is dedicated to fixing bugs and updating it.
It also says on the page itself that there are bugs so perhaps it should be tested so we have an idea how they are

I basically want to hear if people are interested and from the technically inclined folks if there are any major issues with it on the server

It says that pets will not be allowed "in other worlds". Will pets be present in the End and Nether?

They should be since it's the OG VillageCraft world and not for example the CM World

Hmm, probably like Ireland or some sort of nordic country. I'm a slut for cold, rainy weather and a beautiful countryside.

For the next poster: Tea or coffee? Or maybe neither. Why?

I like both, and tend to drink coffee more in the summer and when I'm working mornings. In the winter, I'm a tea whore. Earl Grey, chocolate mint, and maple are the best types by far, or anything fresh from the garden. Always a splash or 3 of milk, no sugar needed.

For the next poster: If you had the opportunity to go to Mars and must stay for at least 6 months, would you take the opportunity?

I'd take the chance even if it was for life, man. I'd die a Mars pioneer any day.

What kind of car does the next poster drive?

I drive a pristine white, 2011 Chevy Malibu. Though I miss my OG Chevy Blazer, that thing is a tank. I bought my car because commuting to school I need something more fuel efficient.

It is time for our event series to begin! Each month a different VillageCraft village will be showcased in an event and this month we invite visitors to enjoy beautiful Silva! Founded by Allison and Naomi in 2015 Silva has grown and evolved as different friends have come and gone, but one thing remains the same, the quaint beauty of it. With a gorgeous oceanfront and a sturdy defense wall visitors can enjoy the simplicity Silva has to offer.
We will be giving everyone numerous food options and offer a self and guided tour of the village as well as a fun game to round out the night. We can't wait to see you on September 21, 2020 @ 7pm EST

If it was certain a 75% decrease would benefit everyone I would be 100% behind the idea. Plus it could be fun tracking the market and finding out new ways to get rich. But I'm not even on baltop 1 so I'm sure those folks have a stronger opinion then I since they have more at stake.

Lowering the price would certainly help afk farming, but it will make it hard for anyone to get anywhere in the economy while the rich maintain their high balance (Not necessarily a bad thing)

For example a new player can try making money to be able to fund projects but how are they going to do that? Vote bags? hard grinding to get barely above the line.

There truly is no easy fix here unless there is a hard balance reset which I doubt reasonably anyone would be game for.

Parliament Vote #23 - Add the NEW GODS Plugin

Should we add the plugin NEW GODS to the server?

This motion has gained the necessary support to be brought to vote. The motion would call for the following:

Players can create their own gods with signs and build altars to pray to them.
You can sacrifice items to your god to gain favor.  You can appoint God Leaders and Priests to help with your religion. There are also God homes and shops you can utilize in your religion. You also get blessed with XP from your God randomly.

Things disabled from the plugin:-
Prefixes - For people who are married, a leader or a priest *This is because it will distract from the prefixes that VillageCraft already uses.
-Marriages *The marriage included in this has a lot less features then the one already approved so it should be disabled in order to not distract.

If "yes" is majority, Marriage Master will be implemented on the server
