So I have been getting this error when logging in to multiplayer recently, does anyone know what causes it? Or how I can fix it?

When did it start? It happens every time you try to join?

It's been happening for a couple of weeks, I do get on sometimes, but it won't let me log on again if I lose connection, and other times it displays this error from the first attempt.

Weird. Reinstall MC or some shit.

1) Open notepad and paste this code:
"%ProgramFiles%/Java/jre7/bin/java" -Xms1G -Xmx1G -cp Minecraft.exe net.minecraft.LauncherFrame > log.txt
2) Click "save as", name the file minecraft-report.bat
Underneath where you put the file name there will be a pull down menu named file type, select the file type as All Files, and click save.
3) Run the bat file that you just created. Try to duplicate the crash. Upon crashing, an error report will be created, named "log.txt". Congratulations, you have just created an error report.
4) Open the log.txt file
Then send me the whole error log either in here or on a PM. Error logs usually have some info on what is going on and I may be able to help!

Thanks Luis, but the error report opens then shuts itself?
:S What a pain.

Does it not give you a file called log.txt? This will either be in your .minecraft or the place you run the .bat file from, I can't remember off the top of my head.

Three things.
1. Don't reinstall minecraft, force update (unless a HUGE mod you have gotten and replaced a lot of files as well as minecraft.jar)
2. Get rid of the texture pack and try again.
3. See if its your internet.
I got the same sort of problem, I could get on but not hold a connection.
If your using the magic launcher try launch minecraft normally, if you cannot start minecraft normally due to java being a bitch,
Copy the minecraft.exe to your desktop, make a TXT file then copy this in:
echo off
cls
echo /
echo /
echo Starting minecraft..
echo /
echo /
title MC Console
java -Xms600m -Xmx600m -jar minecraft.exe
echo.
pause
Then save and close the window, and rename it to Minecraft.bat
Then start the Minecraft.bat and try join, if it doesn't work for you or you are using a mac and java is messing up, your screwed as I don't know how to use a mac and never will use it.
