Hey!!
Recently there has been lots of issues with people's animals being killed ect. As a result of this, I have been looking around on the plugins database, and have found the plugin critter, which I have linked below. It basically stops people killing animals they do not own, which will maybe help with lots of glitches and/or griefs.
Thanks for reading!
Luis :)

I can see people using immortal dogs to beat their opponents. idk but can it be altered which mobs you can kill?
-
It seems to me someone could go claim a bunch of animals. Maybe there could be an ownership reset once a month?
-
YES. When I lived in Herobrine town, somebody wiped out the whole animal farm.
-
I don't know...looks like a pain in the ass to configure it.

From what I'm reading, you can only claim animals you bred (as in you only own the babies) so they'd be claiming animals they worked to get... so I don't see the issue.
However, Knite brings up a valid point about the wolf thing. If there is a way to turn that off, I'd be all for this.

I took this from the site:
Optionally (see config.yml) you will also become the owner of the parent animals (providing nobody else owns them already). By right-clicking an animal you can see who (if anyone) owns it. Critter prevents you from killing or breeding from animals you don't own. As from v1.2 you can also own an unowned animal by branding it (right-clicking with an iron spade).
:)

You even quoted that it's optional. So if staff don't want to turn that on, they don't have to.

I guess, but it would be a pain to only be able to claim animals you bred.

So wait, first you're complaining that people would run around claiming them all, now you're complaining that you want to be able to claim parents?
You have to be on one side or the other.

I was saying it would be a pain only being able to claim bred animals, but if you could claim any unclaimed animal, people would run around claiming all in sight. I thought this might be able to be resolved by a monthly ownership reset.

If this could be used, but disabled for wolves then sure. Another problem is people having village animal farms, the offspring will be owned and so become private.
-
you can turn off the wolves in the config file, I know this because I use this plugin in my private server, and I had that issue with some people.
-
Or, all of this could be avoided by putting a roof on your animal cages, with lockettes.
-
I would really suggest this plugin, it will make the staff's job a lot easier.

You can still break open the cage and that doesn't mean you killed the animals.

You could build a whole cage just out of doors with lockets :D

The fortress of doors, where one button press drives weaker men insane.

Can't do that for the roof though.
