Title: Low disk space...
Post by: luisc99 on 19 November 2013, 10:46:22 AM
So, I found out today that the 220GB hard drive that came with my laptop those four or so years ago when I bought it is nearly full. I do have a terabyte hard drive which is pretty much empty, but I want to try and clear some stuff up as if I do get a new computer anytime soon, it will make transferring files that much easier!

What I have done:
- Cleared my downloads folder. Goodbye 6.8GB of random downloads from the past few years!
- Emptied my recycle bin. Cya 114,184 items clogging up 16.4GB of my hard drive for no reason! This will take a while, Windows predicts 21 hours. I obviously have too many files for Windows to delete at a time :/
- Removed system32. Waste of space anyway, doesn't do much lol joking obviously

Any more suggestions as to how I can clear disk space that don't involve reinstalling windows?

Delete any games you rarely play.

Ok so you could delete some porn. 50GB of porn deleted would free up a lot of space.
Try deleting browsing shit history, cookies, etc. End up with tons of small things in there over time that add up.
Go through Control Panel -> Programs and Features, search through that list for any programs you don't use and remove them.

I don't use them ALL. I have lots of free space.

Hmm .. did you try uninstalling the registry? I think that takes up a good chunk of data.
