Could you give us some more information? Are you getting any kind of error code? Or does it simply say server not available?
-
ive tried again and it just says no host found

Maybe you've mistyped the IP. Try doing that again.
-
still says no resolved host

how do I upload pic
Hit Prt Scrn to take a screenshot, open paint and paste the screenshot, save it as vcscreenshot, upload it to imgur.com, then post the imgur.com link here.

Fastest possible way to take and share screenshots is with ShareX, it will take care of the saving and uploading for you. I can take a screenshot and share it with an imgur link in about 1 second.
https://getsharex.com/
Gyazo is also okay, simpler, not as powerful, but works https://gyazo.com/
And there's a couple others that some people use.
Otherwise, do this:
Hit Prt Scrn to take a screenshot, open paint and paste the screenshot, save it as vcscreenshot, upload it to imgur.com, then post the imgur.com link here.
Other things to try:
-Make sure you are running Minecraft 1.12.1
-Make sure the IP reads mc.villagecraft-server.com
-Try more than once because MC server browser is still a glitchy mess in 2018

No resolved host sounds like a DNS issue to me. Might we worth testing that, to see what route your computer is trying to take. It's pretty easy. In the start menu, go to all programs, then accessories, then open the command prompt. In this, type nslookup -type=A mc.villagecraft-server.com. Add a screenshot of this window too.
You could also try flushing your DNS, to force your computer to get a new copy, which might solve the issue. In the same command window, type ipconfig /flushdns, and give it a minute to clear it. Then, try connecting to the server again.
Which ISP do you use? It's possible (but highly unlikely) that they're operating purely on IPv6, in which case we'd need to look into updating our settings.
If nothing works, we can try connecting via the numeric IP instead of the domain, but that's not ideal

Faster:

https://gyazo.com/2dedcaaacd58eb11154a7b1e01b6e395 I want to get on as soon as possible so thank you guys for helping me as I want to work on my towns again :D

@Brutalfive When you say it doesn't work on other PCs, are they all on the same network?
Also, could you try this and send us a screenshot of the result? Might be able to shed some light on what's going on behind the scenes

@luisc99 could u explain step by step what to do pls (I'm not great at computers xD
For nslookup:
1. Press the Windows key and R together, top open up up the run window
2. Type "cmd", and press enter
3. In the black and white window that just opened, type exactly nslookup mc.villagecraft-server.com, making sure the spaces are in the right place
4. Hit enter
5. It will take a few seconds (or maybe more) to finish. You'll know it's done when the C:\Users\yourname>_ icon comes back at the bottom
6. Send us a screenshot of the result
For a trace route:
1. Open a new cmd window as before (steps 1-2)
2. This time, type tracert mc.villagecraft-server.com, and hit enter
3. It could take about a minute to try and find the route to the server. Give it time
4. When it says "Trace complete.", take a screenshot and send it to us
If you want a video tutorial, there's one for nslookup (https://youtu.be/VwKXwzNRp6E?t=1s), and another for tracert (https://youtu.be/RDrsaZHrYGs?t=1s). I don't know how good they are, but they at least show opening the cmd window and typing the commands.
@Brutalfive Let me know if you have any issues :)

but he doesn't even get a connection to the server
-
idk what an IP ban looks like though, maybe it just says there isnt a connection to the server even on the menu
idk
-
@Brutalfive Hm, that's not resolving to the right ip. Try this:
1. Windows key + R again
2. In that pop-up, type ipconfig /flushdns, making sure you have the space before the /
3. Do the other two things again
4. Send us screenshots
5. Do windows key + R, cmd again, to open the black terminal
6. Type notepad %systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts. Do not edit this file in any way
7. Send us a screenshot of that too
Also, do you have steam? Might be able to help quicker than via this

when I do windows key and r then paste ipconfig /flushdns nothing happens idk why
-
also idk if this helps but I also cant access the map on the website, it just doesn't load
-
Nothing will happen, it's doing stuff behind the scenes. The map not working is kinda expected, they're using the same ip.
Try doing the nslookup and tracert again, see what they come out as now the dns was flushed

Interesting...
Based on the fact you're using Virgin Media, and the IP it's trying to resolve us to is also owned by Virgin Media, I'd guess they're blocking the domain for whatever reason. No idea why. I'll try and look into it if I can, see why this is.
Luckily, despite them being such a big ISP, their domain blocking is easy to bypass (as is, surprisingly, the Turkish government's) by changing your DNS. We'll use Google DNS, as they're pretty open with everything, and are unlikely to go down any time soon
Assuming you're on Windows 10:
1. Open Control Panel
2. Click "Network and Internet"
3. Click "Network and Sharing Center"
4. Click "Change adapter settings" on the left
5. Right click whichever one is providing you internet. Might be named ethernet or wifi or something, depending on what you're using. It'll be the one without a cross
6. Click Properties
7. Select the "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" option, and click Properties
8. Select the "Use the following DNS server addresses" option, and in the boxes below type 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
9. Apps everything and close out
10. Try connecting to the server again. If it's still not working, restart your PC and try again. If it's STILL not working, do another nslookup for me so I can see what on earth is going on
(Taken from here (https://www.windowscentral.com/how-change-your-pcs-dns-settings-windows-10), if you want pictures thrown in the guide)

@luisc99 sorry just want to be sure before I do anything is this safe and legal (have to ask cos this is my only pc at the moment and is new xD)
-
It's completely safe and legal. DNS settings are just how the internet translates names (google.com) to numbers (216.58.206.46), so it knows how to route your internet. Each ISP caches DNS servers, to reduce load on the main system, and to make it convenient for changes to be distributed across everyone. Changing them just changes which address book you're using to look up websites.
Virgin Media does actually have an option on your modem to change the DNS settings for your entire house, but they change their UI every few months and I forget what it looks like now, so it'd be much harder for me to guide you through it.
Google's DNS is well used. I've used it for years. My university uses it for all non-internal internet traffic.

YAY it worked, thanks so much luis <3
