Title: car stereo

hey does anyone here know if its easy to replace the stereo in my car? i found one i want that is compatible with my make and model. my cars stereo only has CD player no aux cord and i need aux cord soo. should i seek a professional?

Are you talking about the actual rectangular deck on the dashboard or like the speakers and shit?

For the deck, there's generally 2 types of swaps, and for the simplest type replacing the deck front panel on the dashboard is literally the press of a button, you pull it off, and click the new one in. The slightly harder type is one you extract the whole unit out, which is harder because you might need to do some (relatively simple) rewiring. You can absolutely do it yourself with a youtube video and a wire stripper (and a screwdriver).

It's quite possible you'll have to rewire those 8 wires, yes. It might happen where you end up just plugging it right in tho. Either way, you can do it without a mechanic. You and youtube (and maybe your dad?) should be enough
